]]> http://www.wrfu.org/2013/04/west-mens-division-2-3-club-championships-initial-information/feed/ 0 Women’s College Division 2 Championships snowed-out! http://www.wrfu.org/2013/03/womens-college-division-2-championships-snowed-out/ http://www.wrfu.org/2013/03/womens-college-division-2-championships-snowed-out/#comments Tue, 26 Mar 2013 05:07:58 +0000 bill.sexton http://www.wrfu.org/?p=402 The West Women’s College Division 2 Championships were to be March 23-24 in Greeley, CO.  It was 60 degrees and beautiful in Greeley on Thursday.  But by Saturday morning Winter Storm “Virgil” had hit eastern Colorado and western Kansas.  It was blizzard conditions, and the temperature was 1 degree with wind-chill.  The Truman State Women could not make it past Kansas City due to developing blizzard conditions.  The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Women made it on I-80 – north of the storm.   The Saturday game was cancelled, and there was slim hope of better weather for Sunday.  But it was not to be, and the game was cancelled.  Spring time on the Front Range!

Per West Competition regulations, in the event that acts of nature prevent play, the top-seeded team(s) will advance.  Consequently, #1 seed Utah Valley University will advance to nationals, while #2 seed Colorado Mesa has a play-in option against Washington State University (if they choose to travel and play).

Also being inducted into the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame is Dr. Ian Nixon.  Ian was a long-time member and scrumhalf for the Dallas  Harlequins RFC, leading the Quins to the first Texas RFU Championship in 1975.   After his retirement from playing, Ian took up the whistle and was the first USA Rugby international referee (A-Panel), and officiated the USA vs. New Zealand in San Diego in 1980.  Ian was one of the best referees in the history of USA Rugby and set the standard.  He was elected Lifetime Member of the Harlequins in 1981.  After his referee days, Ian served two terms as President of USA Rugby.

To fully understand this deadline, we strongly encourage you to refer to the  USA Rugby Eligibility Regulations

This deadline applies to you if:

  • you are currently registered with a club that is not the club you plan on playing with for the remainder of the 2011-2012 Membership Cycle (ends August 31, 2013)

or

  • you have not yet registered to the club you will be playing with for the remainder of the 2012-2013 Membership Cycle (ends August 31, 2013).

or

  • you want to transfer to another club for any other reason.

You must submit a transfer request to USA Rugby or register with USA Rugby before 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on Friday March 15, 2013.

Please note that this transfer/registration deadline does not apply to sevens.
